Thermo-mechanical behavior of a full-scale energy pile equipped with a spiral pipe configuration

This study investigates the thermo-mechanical behavior of energy piles equipped with a spiral pipe configuration. The analysis is based on results full-scale pile as well three-dimensional finite element analyses. two five U-shaped pipes connected in series and parallel, characterized by same total length piping network, also analyzed numerically for comparison purposes. this work highlight that configuration are lowest trends average temperature variation thermally induced vertical stress within their volume, compared to configurations or parallel. Considerable variations arise vicinity network embedded all considered piles. Nevertheless, appear best solution practical applications length, because they maximize heat exchange achieved ground minimize associated mechanical response.
